Cancún and other coastal destinations are facing challenges, while prices and security concerns affect tourist elections.

Mexico is facing difficulties in the tourism sector, as some of its best-known holiday destinations have registered declines in international visitors.

According to recent reports, international traffic at Cancún Airport dropped by nearly 12% in September compared to the same month last year. Among the factors affecting this situation are the strengthening of Mexican pesos, security concerns, and an increase in marine algae on certain beaches.

These problems are driving some tourists to consider other alternatives to their vacation, while increasing costs makes Mexico less affordable for some travelers.

Tourism remains an important sector for the Mexican economy. For this reason, returning visitors and improving tourist experience are essential for destinations that depend on coastal holidays.
