Ferrari's move into fully electric performance cars is becoming one of the most closely watched developments in the luxury automotive industry.

Ferrari has entered a new chapter in its history with the launch of the Luce, its first fully electric car. The model represents a significant change for a manufacturer known for high-performance combustion-engine vehicles.

The Luce has attracted considerable attention because Ferrari is attempting to introduce electric technology while maintaining the characteristics associated with its luxury sports cars.

According to recent reporting, the limited-production model quickly reached its initial sales target of 500 units. The car has a reported starting price of around €550,000, placing it firmly in the ultra-luxury segment.

Ferrari is not the only traditional luxury manufacturer moving toward electric vehicles. Bentley, Jaguar and Porsche are also developing or expanding electric models as the automotive industry changes.

However, the transition has not been simple. Luxury customers remain divided between electric technology and traditional petrol-powered performance cars. Manufacturers are therefore increasingly maintaining a mixture of electric, hybrid and combustion-engine vehicles.

Ferrari's limited production strategy allows the company to experiment with new technology while keeping the model exclusive. The Luce could therefore become an important example of how high-end automotive brands approach electrification.

The development also comes as Chinese manufacturers expand their presence in premium electric vehicles, creating additional competition for established European brands.
