A conversation held ten years ago and co-operation with Apple's former designer have influenced the creation of the Luce electric model.

The Ferrari is entering a new chapter of its history with its full electrical model Luce, but the origin of the project relates to an unexpected conversation.

According to Reuters, the president of Ferrari, John Elkan, has indicated that a discussion with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, in 2016, moved him to think more seriously about the potential for electrification to the Italian brand.

The idea gradually became an ambitious project, where Ferrari cooperated with Jonah Ive, the legendary former designer of design at Apple.

Ive and his study LoveFrom worked to create a new internal identity for the car.

One of Luce's special characteristics is the use of physical commands instead of excessive reliance on touch screens.

This choice aims to preserve the emotional bond between the driver and the vehicle, even in the absence of the traditional internal combustion engine.

Reuters reports that the project has been developed over several years, with team co-operation in Italy and California.

The Ferrari is trying to prove that the identity of a luxurious sports car is not determined solely by the sound of the engine.

The main challenge remains the conviction of traditional customers that an electric Ferrari can provide the same exclusive guidance experience.
