PARlS Cirona has introduced the return of one of the most famous cars in the history of French automotism. Legendary Model 2 CV, known in France as Deudeuche, was reborn in a fully electric version, with an initial target price of about 15 thousand euros.
According to the French newspaper Le Monde, the new model has been introduced under the Mondial de l'Auto 2026 in Paris, the international automobile fair that opens its doors on 12 October. Citroen intends to market the final version during 2028.
Car Preserves the Unique Elements of 2 The original CV, which was introduced in 1948. Rounders, soft forms of chariot, distinctive engine cover, and minimalistic view have been adapted to the electric age.
With a length of only 3,76 feet [3,76 m], Citroa 2 CV Concept is designed mainly for urban circulation, light parking and low energy consumption.
The director of Cirro, Xavier Chardon, has declared that the company wants to restore the original philosophy of the model -- a simple, practical and affordable machine for most families.
According to Le Monde, the expected autonomy of the production version will be between 200 and 300 km with a charge, although the battery's final specifications have not yet been confirmed.
Regaining 2 CV comes at an important moment for the French automobile industry. Citron faces ever stronger competition from Chinese electric car producers, while rivals Renault and Dacia have expanded the offer of economic vehicles.
The Reuters agency reports that Stellantis, the group that owns Cirroa, is setting the new model at the centre of the strategy for developing affordable electric vehicles in Europe.
Another interesting detail is the production site. Although Cirro is a French historical brand, Le Monde writes that 2 CV electricity is expected to be assembled at a Fiat factory in Italy.
For the development of electrical technology, Stellantis is considering using the technical platform of Chinese partner Leapmator. The final decision on this co-operation is expected to be made by the end of 2026.
Citron 2 The original résumé was produced from 1948 to 1990 and sold into millions of specimens, becoming a symbol of popular French automobileism.
Now, with a targeted price of about 15 thousand euros, Cirro hopes that history will repeat itself on the electric market.
However, the final price, official autonomy and standard equipment will be confirmed closer to starting sales in 2028.
