US stocks climbed higher on October 6. The S&P 500 moved toward a new record. The Nasdaq also continued its strong performance. Oil prices fell significantly during the session. Investors are watching inflation and corporate earnings closely.

US financial markets moved higher on Tuesday as falling oil prices helped ease some concerns about inflation.

The S&P 500 gained around 0.5% and was approaching the record level it reached in August. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose about 0.4%, while the Nasdaq added approximately 0.6%, extending its record-setting performance.

One of the main developments supporting markets was a decline in oil prices. Brent crude fell 2.3% to around $97.97 per barrel after recently approaching $110. Lower energy prices can reduce pressure on businesses and consumers by easing some inflationary costs.

Investors are also closely watching corporate earnings. Strong company results have continued to support the market, with several businesses reporting better-than-expected performance.

The movement shows how quickly financial markets can react to changes in energy prices, inflation expectations and corporate results.

However, investors remain cautious because higher borrowing costs and uncertainty around the global economy continue to create challenges.

For now, Wall Street is maintaining strong momentum, with investors watching whether major US indexes can establish new record highs.
