An outstanding case of bed insects has been discovered in the town of Cardiff, Wales, where millions of parasites had occupied a home, spreading to walls and beneath decorative carpets.
According to BBC Wales, pest control specialist Gareth Davies has described the situation as the worst case he has faced during his 38 years of career.
The event was recorded in the Canton district of Cardiff, where Davies's team was forced to use special protective equipment to enter the apartment and start cleaning.
The expert reported to Radio Wales that hundreds of thousands of insects appeared as the mattresses were raised. They had infiltrated the walls, making intervention extremely difficult.
Published images show swarms of insects moving on furniture surfaces and on damaged walls.
To cope with the situation, experts used professional brooms and special anti - insect preparations. The mattresses and beds were so infected that they had to flee for annihilation through the burning.
But the case has also raised a question that may concern many families: How can it be seen if these insects have entered the house?
According to the British National Health Service, NHS, bed bugs can be transported through used suitcases, clothes, and furniture.
They usually hide in mattresses, bed frames, furniture cuts, and narrow spaces near where people sleep.
The most common signs include stinging bites, tiny blood stains on sheets, and dark spots on mattresses or furniture.
Experts recommend that such signs not be neglected, as a minor infection can spread and become much harder to eliminate.
Washing clothes and sheets at high temperatures, heat drying, and careful checkup of luggage after trips are among the measures that can help.
In cases of widespread expansion, professional intervention is usually needed.
NHS also stresses that the presence of bed bugs does not necessarily mean a lack of cleanliness. They can also appear in very clean dwellings.
The case in Cardiff shows how far the problem can spread when insects can breed without being discovered and treated on time.
