The Mütterrente III pension reform will bring thousands of pensioners backworking payments during 2028. The benefits apply to parents who raised children born before 1992.

Germany has confirmed a significant change in the pension system, which will provide more money to mothers and fathers who have raised children before 1992.

According to the German newspaper Stutgarter Zeitung, the reform known as Müterrente III will bring not only monthly retirement increases but also back-up payments for the period during which beneficiaries will not yet receive the additions.

How much money will pensioners make?

According to the German pension insurance institution, Deutsche Rentenrsischerung, the estimated increase in current values is around 21.26 euros gross monthly for every child born before 1992.

This means that a pensioner who benefits the addition for a child could receive about 255 euros gross for 12 months, while for two children the amount could reach approximately 510 euros.

That's the direct amount. The final payment will depend on the value of retirement, the rule of law period and relevant discounts.

Why the money will be paid later?

The new regulations take effect on January 1, 2027, but payments are expected to begin only during 2028.

Deutsche Rentenrsischerung explains that implementation requires major technical changes, as data from millions of pensions must be updated.

Hence, those who have the right to supplement during 2027 will receive back - paying compensation when the payments begin.

This is not a general payment for all German pensioners, but a benefit related to known periods of child rearing.

Who has the right to benefit?

The reform aims to equate the pension treatment of parents who raised children before 1992 with that of parents of children later born.

Up until now, for children born before 1992, there were up to two and a half years of retirement education. With the new reform, this period grows to three years.

The benefits may be due to both mothers and fathers, depending on whom child - rearing periods have been known in the German pension system.

Should the request be made?

According to Deutsche Rentversischerung, accounting and additional payment will generally be made automatically for existing pensioners.

This means that most beneficiaries do not need to submit a special application to Mütterrente III alone.

However, people who suspect that child rearing periods are not correctly registered should check their retirement insurance history.

What should Albanian families in Germany know?

Albanian parents who have worked or retired to Germany can also benefit if they meet legal conditions and have well - known periods of child rearing.

Just having children born before 1992 does not automatically guarantee the benefit. The decision-making is the known data and rights from the German pension system.

The reform is expected to affect millions of pensions and aims to correct the historical difference in knowing the years of child care.
