French rabbi and writer Delphine Horvilleur returns to the centre of public debate on the anniversary of the October 7th attack, criticising polarisation over the war and Benjamin Netanyah's policy.

Delphine Horvilleur, one of France's most popular voices of liberal Judaism, is drawing attention to a series of interviews and its new book, “Sermons sous les décombras”, reflecting on what has changed since Hamas' attack on October 7, 2023.

In an interview for France Inter, Horvilleur said that the last three years have forced him to review not only the way he talks about Israel but also the way he views Palestinian suffering. She said the war has changed the language, the public record, and the ability of people to listen to each other.

Horville, who continues to define herself as a sinonist, has also been very critical of Benjamin Netanyah's government.

In an earlier interview for El País, she argued that fear and trauma could again favour Netanyah in the election, as he could be represented as a security policy. According to her, Israel should be able to defend itself without losing ethical principles.

In his final interview with France Inter, Horville also spoke against the logic that forces people to choose only one side.

She said she does not want to participate in demonstrations where only one flag waves, because human suffering should not be seen according to ethnic or national affiliation.

The theme is also central to its new book, which appears in France on October 8. In an interview for Libération, Horvilleur warned that future elections in Israel may be crucial not only to the country's political future but also to its relationship with the Jewish diaspora.

Horvilleur is also invited tonight to the French cultural show “La Grande Liberie”, where she will present her book and reflections on war, anti-Semitism, Israel and political responsibility.
