British Airways is making a big difference in the way its fleet Airbus A380 will use, sacrificing dozens of Economy countries to give more space to passengers premium.
The new configuration will include 106 countries in Business Class, while the entire upper level of A380 will be dedicated to this category, reports CNBC. The company is promoting him as Business Class's largest cabin in the world.
The change is part of a multibillion-billion-euro British Airways investment to modernise passenger experience.
British Airways' A380 currently has 469 seats. After renovation, the capacity will be reduced to 417 passengers, providing the aircraft with a much more accessible configuration towards the premium travelers.
The biggest change affects Economy. The number of seats will drop from 303 to 215, namely 88 countries less.
Business Class will rise from 97 to 106 countries, while Premium Economy will significantly expand from 55 to 84 countries. First Class will have 12 suites, compared to 14 currently.
In Business Class, British Airways will install the updated version of Club Suite. Each passenger will have direct access to the corridor and personal doors for more privacy.
First Class will change too. The new suites will have seats around 36.5 inches wide, bed about 79 inches and 4K screen of 32 inches. The split between the two central suites could open for couples travelling together.
Premium Economy and Economy will also receive new seats and screens, while British Airways is also improving service, carpets and equipment offered to passengers.
According to data released for the new configuration, almost half of all A380 passengers will travel to First, Business or Premium Economy, a major change from current configuration.
British Airways is also investing in Heathrow Airport. The company has announced a new lounge at Terminal 5C, with dining and eating spaces, showers and a bar about 17m long. The opening is scheduled for the end of 2028.
The first renovated A380 planes are expected to begin entering the service in the coming months.
