The highly anticipated Xbox shooter is trending as early access begins and the first reviews arrive

Interest in Gears of War: E-Day is surging as the highly anticipated Xbox and PC title begins its early-access period, with the game becoming one of the most talked-about releases across gaming communities and search platforms.

Google search interest for “Gears of War E-Day” has climbed sharply, with the game appearing prominently in the latest gaming searches. The timing comes as the first major reviews are being published and players finally get the opportunity to experience the newest chapter in one of Xbox’s most recognizable franchises.

Developed by The Coalition, Gears of War: E-Day takes players back to the beginning of the Locust invasion. The story is set 14 years before the original Gears of War and follows Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago during the devastating events of Emergence Day.

Early access officially began on October 1 for players with the Premium Edition or the Premium Upgrade. Microsoft has confirmed that the worldwide full launch will follow on October 6 for Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game is also coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

The first reviews have generally highlighted the game’s presentation, combat and campaign. GamingBible praised the emotional story, visuals and action while also pointing out that some of the semi-open-world sections can feel unnecessary. The publication gave the game an 8/10.

VGC also published its campaign review on October 1, giving the game four out of five stars. The review praised the action while noting that the game works particularly well when it sticks to the classic Gears formula.

PC players are also paying close attention to the game’s technical performance. Gears of War: E-Day was built using Unreal Engine 5 and introduces advanced lighting technology known as MegaLights. Tom’s Hardware tested the game across 43 graphics cards, finding that its highest settings can demand significant GPU power, particularly at 4K resolution.

The game’s technical ambition is one of the reasons it has attracted attention beyond traditional Gears fans. Its combination of detailed environments, dynamic lighting, large-scale battles and modern visual effects is designed to showcase what current-generation hardware can deliver.

For longtime fans, however, the biggest attraction is the story. E-Day explores one of the most important events in the Gears universe and gives players the chance to see Marcus and Dom during a completely different stage of their lives.

With early access now underway and the full release only days away, attention surrounding Gears of War: E-Day is expected to remain high. The first reviews have given players plenty to discuss, while PC performance tests are already generating debate among hardware enthusiasts.

After years of waiting for a new mainline Gears experience, Emergence Day has finally arrived once again — and this time, players get to experience how the war began.
