An experimental treatment of Bristol Myers Squibb has reached its main objective in an advanced study of rare tumors.

An experimental therapy against cancer has produced promising results in a clinical study, opening up new opportunities for patients with few forms of the disease.

According to Reuters, the Bristol Myers Squibb pharmaceutical company has announced that treatment RYZ101 has significantly improved the time during which the disease does not progress in advanced neuroendocrine patients.

The study included tumor patients who affect the gastroinstinal system and the panchreas, where the disease had continued to progress after previous therapies.

RYZ101 is a radiofarmaceutic treatment that uses a radioactive isotope to target tumoral cells.

Unlike some traditional treatments, this approach is intended to send radiation directly to the affected cells, limiting the impact on healthy tissues.

Bristol Myers Squibb announced that the study of the advanced phase had achieved its main goal and that the security profile was in line with previous results.

However, complete study data has not yet been made public.

This means that efficiency and risks must be further appreciated by regulatory experts and authorities.

The company plans to discuss results with the institutions responsible for adopting medicines.

For patients with rare tumors, development is encouraging, but therapy remains experimental and is not yet an approved treatment for general use.
