A new scientific analysis links younger age and lower incomes with delays in breast cancer treatment.

Delays in diagnosing and treating breast cancer remain a serious challenge, especially for younger and less financial women.

According to a scientific report published by Wiley and reflected by Euekallert on October 12, 2026, an analysis of teenage patients and young breast cancer has identified links between social factors and delays in medical care.

Researchers found that lower incomes and younger age accompanied with greater opportunities for delays in care.

Likewise, patients who had experienced diagnostic delays tended to be diagnosed in more advanced stages of the disease.

These results are important because breast cancer is often linked to public perception with older women.

However, the disease may affect young women and symptoms should not be ignored simply because of their age.

A new size in the breast, unusual changes in skin or nipple secretions are reasons for medical consultation.

The study does not testify that economic factors directly cause the progress of cancer, but it does show that obstacles to access to health care can be of great importance.

Experts stress the need for time diagnosis and health systems that offer patients equal treatment opportunities.
