Laneway Festival is preparing to reveal its highly anticipated 2027 lineup, sending music fans across Australia and New Zealand into a frenzy over who could appear at next February's festival.
The announcement is expected on September 30 after mysterious street markings carrying the date appeared across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland. The campaign followed confirmation that the festival will return to four cities in February 2027.
Attention is particularly focused on Fontaines D.C. and Hayley Williams, whose names have been circulating for weeks following what appeared to be an accidental leak.
The timing has created one of the biggest music festival stories in Australia and New Zealand as fans wait to discover whether the rumors are accurate.
Fontaines D.C. and Hayley Williams linked to Laneway 2027
Speculation intensified earlier in September when artwork reportedly appeared briefly on LinkedIn before being removed.
The material appeared to promote a Fontaines D.C. concert at Perth's RAC Arena on February 17, 2027, with Hayley Williams and This Is Lorelei listed as supporting artists.
Screenshots subsequently circulated online.
The apparent poster also reportedly contained Laneway Presents and Handsome Tours branding, immediately leading fans to question whether the three artists could be part of the Laneway Festival 2027 lineup.
The Perth date made the speculation particularly interesting because it fits almost perfectly between confirmed Laneway dates.
However, until the artists or festival organizers confirm their participation, the apparent leak should be treated as unverified.
Laneway Festival 2027 dates confirmed
What is already official is the festival's significantly revised 2027 schedule.
Laneway begins in Sydney at Centennial Park on Friday, February 12, before moving to Brisbane Showgrounds on Saturday, February 13.
The festival then returns to Melbourne's Flemington Park on Friday, February 19, before crossing to New Zealand for its final event at Auckland's Western Springs on Sunday, February 21.
The schedule is:
Sydney: February 12, Centennial Park
Brisbane: February 13, Brisbane Showgrounds
Melbourne: February 19, Flemington Park
Auckland: February 21, Western Springs
The Auckland show will also mark the first time New Zealand hosts the finale of Laneway's trans Tasman festival run.
Adelaide and Perth dropped from 2027 festival
Laneway will look noticeably different next year because Adelaide and Perth have been removed from the touring schedule.
Organizers explained that staging so many festivals across such a large geographical area within a short period places considerable demands on artists and production crews.
The decision reduces the 2027 edition to Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Auckland.
Festival organizers have stressed that the absence of Adelaide and Perth does not necessarily mean the cities have been permanently removed from future editions.
The change could also leave additional room in touring schedules for artists appearing at Laneway to perform separate headline concerts in cities not hosting the festival.
That possibility has added further intrigue to the alleged February 17 Fontaines D.C. Perth date.
Why Fontaines D.C. make sense for Laneway
Fontaines D.C. are entering another major period in their career.
The Irish band is preparing to release its fifth studio album, Dopamine Chamber, on October 16, 2026, and has already announced major concerts for 2027.
The group's schedule has made an Australian appearance in February possible, although that alone does not confirm a Laneway booking.
There is another connection strengthening the speculation.
Hayley Williams is already scheduled to join Fontaines D.C. as a special guest at the band's Slane Castle concerts in Ireland in June 2027.
That established connection between the artists has made the apparent Australian poster considerably more believable to fans.
Hayley Williams could be one of the biggest draws
Williams would bring significant star power to the festival.
Best known as the frontwoman of Paramore, she has developed an increasingly prominent solo career and has been repeatedly mentioned among potential Laneway 2027 artists.
Her touring calendar also leaves space around the February festival dates, another factor behind the speculation surrounding her possible appearance.
Still, scheduling compatibility is not confirmation.
The full artist announcement will determine whether the weeks of speculation surrounding Williams, Fontaines D.C. and This Is Lorelei were accurate or simply an unusually convincing coincidence.
Laneway 2027 tickets are next
Ticket sales will follow shortly after the lineup announcement.
According to information published by Laneway Festival, presale tickets are scheduled for October 7, with general sales beginning October 8.
Sale times differ between Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and the festival identifies Ticketek as its official ticket outlet.
The combination of a reduced four city schedule and a potentially high profile lineup could make ticket demand one of the next major stories surrounding the festival.
All eyes now on the Laneway 2027 lineup
Laneway has spent more than two decades building a reputation around mixing emerging artists with established international acts.
The 2026 edition featured Chappell Roan alongside artists including Wolf Alice, Wet Leg, PinkPantheress and Role Model.
Now attention turns completely to 2027.
Fontaines D.C. and Hayley Williams have become the biggest names in the pre announcement conversation, but the complete lineup could still contain surprises.
With Sydney opening the festival in February and Auckland hosting the finale, the artist announcement will finally answer the question music fans have been asking for weeks: who is actually playing Laneway Festival 2027?
