The legendary German series begins a new era after the departure of Commissioner Klaus Browski. The first episode with Mila rahin brings murders, tension between colleagues, and a conclusion that has aroused interest in the continuation.

The famous German criminal material “Tatort” has returned to the spotlight with a new chapter that radically changes the investigative team in the city of Kiel. Episode “Unter Frenden”, aired on October 11, 2026 on public television ARD, marks the beginning of a new era after the departure of one of the most popular serial characters.

According to German television n-tv, actress Almila Bagricik, in the role of Commissioner Mila ʼahin, takes the lead in the investigation after the departure of Klaus Browski, a character interpreted for 22 years by Axel Milberg.

Browski left the series in 2025, after 44 criminal cases handled during his television career. Now producers are aiming to create a new identity for Kiel's criminal stories.

In the first episode, investigators face the mysterious death of Francesca Polydoro, an accountant found lifeless near the coast of Kiel.

According to the official description published by the ARD, the investigations lead the commissioners to the technology company Prometheus, which has significant political connections. During the investigation, allegations of subsidies fraud and secret relationships within institutions arise.

History, however, does not focus solely on crime.

The relationship between Mila rahin and her new colleague, Anna Nowak, performed by Lilith Stangenberg, becomes one of the main elements of the episode. The two characters are known from the police school, but professional cooperation highlights tensions and disagreements.

Police psychologist Allie Krieger, performed by Caroline Schuch, joins the team.

According to journalist Igo Scheel's analysis of n-tv, the most obvious change compared to the Browski period is the most dynamic pace of confession and concentration on female characters.

The recession values the new energy of the series, although it proves that not all elements of the episode function equally well.

Special attention has drawn dramatic conclusion, which leaves important questions about the fate of the characters and the continuation of history open.

According to the NDR, the new chapter has been conceived as a two-part story. The second episode, “Uenter”, is scheduled to be broadcast on October 18th.

Meanwhile, production is working on other criminal cases with the new team. The NDR has confirmed that Almila Bagriacik and Caroline Schuch are involved in shootings of upcoming episodes.
