American actress Selma Blair was arrested in New York after an incident in a flight from Los Angeles to John F. Kennedy. The event took place Sunday evening and included accusations of aggressive physical behavior against crew members.
According to authorities, police were called after reporting on a passenger suspected of practicing violence against stewards during the flight of Delta Air Lines company. Two crew members reported injuries, while one of them was taken to the hospital for further control and treatment.
After landing in New York, authorities took Blair into custody and sent him to the hospital for medical evaluation. According to documents cited by the American media, she is also suspected of hitting a police officer while transporting to the hospital and a nurse during medical treatment.
For these two incidents, the actress faces two counts of second-degree attack in New York. During her appearance in court, she was acquitted. The court set the terms of release on financial guarantees, and Blair was released after the court procedures.
Meanwhile, the incident during flight is being investigated separately by US federal authorities. So far, the charges must be handled as claims and not as facts confirmed by the tribunal.
The actress's representative said Blair had experienced a medical emergency during the flight, which, according to him, led to the alleged behaviour. He also disclosed that after receiving medical help, her condition was stable.
