The TMZ reports that Chet Hanks, son of the renowned actor Tom Hanks, approached Eric Andree from behind during the ComplexCon and grabbed him from his shoulder. In published images, André initially seems friendly, but the atmosphere quickly changes when Hanks begins to confront him.
According to the TMZ, the pair began a tense debate, while André looked surprised and wanted to know why Hanks was angry. Eventually, security intervened, and André left surrounded by bodyguards.
But the crash didn't start in ComplexCon.
Page Six writes that the conflict between them dates back to 2023, when Chet Hanks was invited to The Eric Andre Show. After the shooting, André had publicly criticised Hank's behaviour, claiming he had created chaotic and potentially dangerous situations during the show's implementation.
Hanks has rejected these claims. Page Six reports that he had stated that he had simply adapted to the chaotic nature of the program and had accused André of being angry because, according to Hanks, he had attracted more attention during the episode.
After the last encounter, Hanks gave his version of the Instagram.
Consequence reports, referring to Hank's post, that he claimed that André initially did not remember that he had publicly criticised him. Hanks also said that during the debate the question of his use of a Jamaican accent, which Andre considered a mockery of the Caribbean culture.
The tension between them is related precisely to comments after Hank's presentation on Andre's show and later public criticism between the two sides, reports News.com.au.au.
Meanwhile, Page Six reports that André has not yet made an official statement on the recent confrontation.
The footage of the incident has brought back to the attention of the old conflict between them, while the name Chet Hanks has risen strongly in online research in the United States.
