The former couple appeared together in northern France while promoting their new thriller Karma, drawing attention to their close relationship more than a year after announcing their separation.

Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet are back in the spotlight together, more than a year after one of French cinema's most famous couples announced their separation.

The two stars appeared at a screening of Karma in Lomme, northern France, on October 3, as they continue promoting the new thriller directed by Canet and starring Cotillard.

Their appearance quickly attracted attention in French entertainment media, with photos showing the former couple relaxed and close during the event.

Purepeople reports that despite no longer being together romantically, Cotillard and Canet continue to share a strong personal and professional bond.

Canet described Karma as a film bringing together "two people who lived a great story for a very long time," according to comments reproduced from the movie's press materials.

The collaboration is particularly significant because Canet wrote the leading role specifically for Cotillard.

The film follows Jeanne, played by Cotillard, whose life is thrown into turmoil following the disappearance of her six year old godson. Denis Ménochet, Leonardo Sbaraglia and Luis Zahera also star in the thriller.

Their professional reunion had already produced an emotional moment at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

After a screening of Karma, Canet publicly praised Cotillard's performance and said he had written the film for her. Cotillard, meanwhile, described the role as one of the most meaningful gifts she had received during her acting career.

Cotillard and Canet announced their separation in June 2025 after a relationship spanning nearly two decades. Their latest appearances make clear that the end of their romantic relationship did not end their collaboration.

The renewed attention is now showing up in search traffic. "Guillaume Canet" climbed into Google's active trends in France on Sunday evening, recording more than 2,000 searches within hours.

With Karma heading toward its French theatrical release on October 21, interest in Cotillard and Canet's unusual post separation relationship could continue to grow.
