Jean Jacques Goldman is suddenly trending in France after a major new detail emerged about the highly anticipated Johnny Hallyday biopic.
French media report that actor Jérémy Lewin will portray Goldman in the upcoming movie Johnny, directed by Cédric Jimenez. The revelation is attracting attention because earlier reports suggested Goldman would only be mentioned in the film and would not actually appear as a character.
Lewin has now confirmed that he filmed a brief appearance as the legendary singer and songwriter.
According to Télé Star, Goldman will appear in a scene near the end of the movie. Lewin described his part as very small but said considerable attention was given to recreating Goldman's appearance through costumes and hairstyling.
The scene is expected to connect Goldman with Johnny Hallyday, who will be portrayed by Benjamin Voisin.
The appearance has particular significance because Goldman played an important role in Hallyday's career. He wrote and produced Hallyday's 1986 album Gang, which included some of the rock star's best known songs, including L'Envie, Je te promets and Laura.
The movie is scheduled to reach French cinemas on June 30, 2027, after its release was moved forward from the previously planned December date.
Interest in the casting announcement has already translated into thousands of Google searches for Jean Jacques Goldman, putting his name among active search trends in France.
