One of the biggest entertainment mergers in history is about to produce a new corporate giant with a new name.
David Ellison says the company created through the combination of Paramount and Warner Bros Discovery will be called Skydance.
Reuters reports that the merger brings together an extraordinary collection of entertainment properties spanning movies, television, news and streaming.
The combined operation includes businesses connected to franchises and brands such as Harry Potter and Mission: Impossible, along with CBS, CNN, Paramount+ and HBO Max.
The transaction is valued at about $110 billion.
A US judge recently cleared the merger following a settlement involving 12 states that had raised antitrust concerns, according to Reuters.
Skydance Corporation is expected to become the legal corporate name on October 6.
The merger also brings enormous financial pressure.
Management is targeting billions of dollars in savings while dealing with approximately $80 billion in debt.
For viewers, familiar entertainment brands are unlikely to disappear overnight.
Behind those brands, however, Hollywood's corporate map is undergoing one of its biggest transformations in decades.
