European international football delivered goals, surprises and late drama on Thursday night as the UEFA Nations League continued across the continent.

Portugal claimed one of the biggest victories of the evening with a 3:2 win over Denmark, while Germany returned to winning ways by beating Serbia 2:0.

Greece produced another eye catching result by defeating the Netherlands 2:1, and Wales came from behind to beat Norway by the same score.

In League B, Kosovo drew 0:0 with Israel, while the Republic of Ireland surrendered a two goal advantage in a 2:2 draw with Austria.

Portugal win thriller in Denmark

Portugal emerged victorious from an entertaining five goal contest against Denmark.

João Cancelo opened the scoring after 13 minutes following an exchange with Gonçalo Ramos.

Denmark responded through Mikkel Damsgaard, but Ramos quickly restored Portugal's advantage to make it 2:1.

Rasmus Højlund brought Denmark level again after the break, finishing a counterattack to make it 2:2.

Portugal ultimately found the decisive goal through Vitinha, who headed home a Bruno Fernandes cross to secure the 3:2 victory.

The result gives Portugal another important victory in their Nations League campaign as the defending champions continue their pursuit of another title.

Germany beat Serbia 2:0

Germany enjoyed a more comfortable evening against Serbia at the Allianz Arena.

Tom Bischof opened the scoring in the 39th minute after Florian Wirtz helped create the opportunity inside the Serbian penalty area.

Wirtz then produced the second himself after the break.

The German midfielder controlled the ball brilliantly before finishing into the corner in the 61st minute to put Germany firmly in control.

The 2:0 victory provided an important result for Germany after a difficult start to the new Nations League campaign.

Greece stun the Netherlands

Greece continued their impressive Nations League form with a 2:1 victory over the Netherlands.

Fotis Ioannidis gave Greece the lead in the 23rd minute with a composed finish into the far corner.

Giorgos Masouras then doubled the advantage before halftime after capitalizing on a defensive mistake.

The Netherlands responded through Virgil van Dijk, whose powerful header from a corner reduced the deficit to 2:1.

But Greece protected their advantage and secured another major result in League A.

Wales complete comeback against Norway

Norway made the perfect start in Cardiff when Oscar Bobb opened the scoring after being released by Martin Ødegaard.

Wales responded before halftime.

Daniel James converted from close range following a Sorba Thomas cross to make it 1:1.

The match changed further when Norway defender Torbjørn Heggem was shown a red card early in the second half.

Neco Williams then scored directly from the resulting free kick, completing the Welsh comeback and giving the hosts a 2:1 victory.

Kosovo take a point against Israel

Kosovo's meeting with Israel produced a very different type of contest.

Neither side managed to find a breakthrough, with the match ending Israel 0:0 Kosovo at the Nagyerdei Stadium.

The result gives Kosovo another point in League B Group 3 and keeps their Nations League campaign moving forward.

The final 0:0 score was also confirmed by Sky Sports.

For Kosovo, avoiding defeat away from home represents another useful result after their strong start to the competition.

Ireland lose two goal lead against Austria

One of the evening's most dramatic matches came in Dublin.

Troy Parrott produced a superb individual goal to put the Republic of Ireland ahead after 12 minutes.

Parrott struck again from the penalty spot shortly before halftime, sending Ireland into the break with a 2:0 advantage.

Austria refused to surrender.

The visitors fought their way back through goals from Alexander Prass and Michael Gregoritsch, eventually securing a 2:2 draw and denying Ireland what had appeared to be a commanding victory.

The match was also briefly interrupted by protests. Reuters reported that tennis balls carrying Palestinian flag imagery were thrown onto the pitch, causing the referee to temporarily stop play.

The major results from Thursday's action were:
