Chicago Marathon 2026 has donated remarkable results, confirming the high level of competition in world athletics.
According to Reuters and World Athletics, Kenyan Amos Kipruto won the men's race with 2 hours, 1 minute and 9 seconds.
This outcome lists him among the fastest marathoners in history.
Kipruto built the victory through a careful strategy, removing himself from rivals in the second half of the race.
In women's competition, Ethiopian Hawi Feysa triumphed, which defended the title won a year ago.
It completed its distance of 42,195 miles per 2 hours, 13 minutes and 33 seconds, leaving the Kenyan Sharon Loched behind.
The women's race also marked a milestone: the first three athletes ended up under two hours and 15 minutes, something that had not happened before in a marathon.
In the category of chariot sportsmen, Swiss Catherine Debruner set a new world record, while Marcel Hog registered record of the road.
Organisers reported the participation of over 54 thousand runners, turning the American city into one of the biggest sports centres on the weekend.
Chicago Marathon remains one of the world calendar's most important competitions and a scene where human sustainability limits continue to be pushed.
